Opportunity

The General Manager, Finance & Investment Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for all aspects of the finance, accounting and tax functions for the Guardians and the Funds, as well as providing internal investment management support for in-house trading. Managing a direct team of four, this is a position focused on enterprise leadership that connects teams across the organisation and develops other leaders while running an already well-performing function.

 

Key Responsibilities

Reporting into the Chief Executive Officer, this role is a core member of the executive team and will be expected to bring energy to the group, broad expertise and an ability to contribute beyond the scope of their role in driving co-ordination across the organisation. They will also be involved with the Board where required. Success in the role is dimensioned by the quality of relationships and effective influence across internal customers – principally in the investment and risk teams – as well as delivery of BAU processes to the high standard expected. Specific elements of the role include:

  • Management of each of the finance, tax and investment operations teams through their respective leaders
  • Ensure these teams provide quality advice and support to the business on time, including delivery of the year-end reporting process
  • Execute specific strategic objectives allocated to the Finance and Investment Operations business unit in accordance with the annual strategic plan.
  • Maintain a sound internal control environment for all aspects of the accounting and tax functions for both the Fund and the Guardians, including authorisation and review functions.
  • Ensure compliance with all the relevant risk tolerance limits for the Finance and Investment Operations business unit, in accordance with the Risk Management Policy.
  • Membership of the risk committee as required
Your Background

Your Background

This role requires proven leadership experience at the executive level and a track record of influencing and contributing across an enterprise. Relevant functional expertise is required but fundamentally, this is a leadership role first and relies on an ability to lead highly skilled teams, create an environment of ongoing improvement and develop leadership capability.

Substantial experience in financial services is required, with a preference for individuals who have led within organisations that have an investment management operation.
