Our team has a deep sense of purpose through the work we do to benefit future generations of New Zealanders. At the Guardians there’s an energy, passion and a shared commitment to excellence. The work is complex, innovative and intellectually stimulating. Our positive work environment respects your wellbeing while supporting your career and your future. As a proud equal opportunity employer we do not discriminate in our hiring practices, diversity and inclusiveness are highly valued.

Opportunity

The Senior Advisor (Controls) Enterprise Risk reports to the Enterprise Risk Manager and works as part of a close-knit team that has oversight of a broad range of risk management and controls.

Whilst risk is deeply embedded as a key consideration in everything the Guardians do, this role will contribute to continuing to uplift the risk maturity by guiding and facilitating the conversation around risk, building risk registers and testing individual controls in addition to running workshops and training for a range of stakeholders.

Enterprise Risk at the Super Fund is wide-ranging and varied, with both a local and global outlook. Your work will be both interesting and holistic in nature, with oversight of operational, strategic, cyber, and all other non-investment risks. We’re looking for someone who can perform deep dives into key risk areas, whilst always keeping the big picture in mind.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide enterprise (ie non-investment) risk reporting to support the business and the Board.
  • Drive forward the planning, implementation and execution of a control assurance programme across the Guardians, integrating this with the enterprise risk management framework.
  • Progressively implement the current risk management framework and work with each business unit as they review their risk register.
  • Provide expertise in identifying key controls, contributing to demonstrable improvements in the control environment, and KRIs.
Your Background

To be successful in this role it is essential that you:

  • Have a minimum of five years’ previous experience in risk and/or compliance within financial services.
  • Have assurance or audit experience.
  • Are an autonomous individual comfortable presenting at Board level
  • Have excellent technical skills, business acumen, composure, approachability, drive for results, integrity and trust.
  • Take a collegial, constructive approach to building internal and external relationships

Desirable attributes may also include:

  • Experience using Power BI or other data analytics tools
