We are the Kaitiaki / Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation. We are proud of our Te Whāinga / Our purpose: Sustainable investment delivering strong returns for all New Zealanders. We invest government contributions to the NZ Super Fund, a global investment fund helping to ensure the country can pay for the growing cost of universal superannuation (New Zealand Superannuation) in the future. About the position

Strategic Tilting is an internally managed, dynamic asset allocation strategy that draws on the Fund’s long horizon and the mean‑reversion of risk premiums over time. We tilt across 35 markets and a broad set of asset classes — equities, interest rates, currencies and credit — anchored by long‑term valuation models and executed in a disciplined, systematic way.

In this role, you will:

  • Maintain and improve portfolio management data, tools and models — enhance data quality, develop libraries, improve systems and processes to support trading decisions .
  • Conduct investment research improve valuation assumptions and investigate methodologies to generate return signals and allocate positions.
  • Assist with management of market exposures — ensure positions are accurate and aligned to our valuation signals and frameworks.
  • Monitor markets and macro developments — participate in and lead discussions on investment topics in an environment where constructive challenge is important to improve decision‑making.
  • Communicate clearly — produce reporting and presentations for senior management, Board, and the wider organisation.
  • Partner effectively — with other teams on trade execution, investment research, coding, frameworks and technology.

About you

You’re purpose‑led, intellectually curious and able to thrive in a systematic investment environment. You bring analytical skills, discipline, and are comfortable with uncertainty and complexity.

  • Financial markets experience — a solid grasp of macroeconomics, portfolio construction and financial modelling.
  • Analytical strength and process thinking — ability to work independently and as part of a group, attention to detail, ability to apply reasoning and logic to complex problems where there may be no clear answer.
  • Technical capability in coding and data analysis, ideally with SQL, Python and Excel, plus good habits around documentation and model governance.

We are looking for a tertiary qualification with relevant experience.  The following would be advantageous:  familiarity with dynamic asset allocation or systematic strategies, exposure to derivatives/markets, experience producing decision‑ready papers, completion of or progress towards CFA charter.
