Chair and Deputy Chair appointed
Gavin Walker has been appointed Chair of the Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation, the Crown Entity which manages the New Zealand Superannuation Fund.
As Chair, Mr Walker will succeed David May, who has chaired the Guardians since inception in 2002.
Exisiting Guardians Board Member Catherine Savage has been appointed Deputy Chair.

Senior Management Appointments
The Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation has appointed David Sara to the position of General Manager Operations, responsible for IT, portfolio risk and compliance, and investment operations. Mr Sara, who joined the Guardians in 2009 as Head of Corporate Strategy, has substantial experience in financial services, including as Head of Strategy with UK-based Platform Home Loans, Head of Venture Development for Lloyds Banking Group and Manager of Strategic Planning for the National Bank of New Zealand.
Mark Fennell, formerly the Fund’s General Manager Operations, has been appointed General Manager Portfolio Completion. In this role Mr Fennell will manage the Fund’s treasury activities and portfolio investments. Prior to joining the Guardians in 2007, Mr Fennell was Company Secretary and Treasurer at The Warehouse.
Neil Williams, formerly General Manager Asset Allocation, has been appointed Chief Investment Advisor and Head of Strategic Tilting. Mr Williams joined the Guardians in 2008 from UBS Global Asset Management in London where he was Global Head of Asset Allocation and a Managing Director in Global Investment Solutions. He was previously Chief Global Strategist, Executive Director for Goldman Sachs International (London).
