The New Zealand Superannuation Fund has been praised in a major feature article by Institutional Investor magazine, one of the world’s foremost financial publications.
In the June 2014 feature article, Institutional Investor recognises the Fund’s strong performance over its first decade of operations, and its focus on the long-term when making investment decisions. They attribute the Fund’s robust governance structure and operational independence to this success.
The article describes the Fund as “a rising star in the ranks of global investment organisations” and notes the recognition it has received from global peers for its innovative, whole-of-portfolio investment approach.
NZ Super Fund Chief Executive Adrian Orr said the Institutional Investor article is important international recognition that the Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation is serving its purpose well and meeting its mandate of global best practice investment management.
Mr Orr said “It is pleasing that we are recognised internationally. Such recognition helps the Fund develop credible relationships with global investment peers and other potential co-investors internationally. This connectedness ensures we have access to the best investment opportunities − necessary to continue to deliver strong returns for the New Zealand taxpayer.”
The Fund is actively involved in a range of global investment initiatives including the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds, which recently established a London office, and the Pacific Pensions Institute.
