About the position
The Enterprise Risk team is a part of the Risk business unit and works closely with the rest of the organisation, as well as with a number of external parties and peer funds to ensure Guardians’ activities are consistent with current best practice. In this role you will partner with leaders and teams in three of our business units to enhance decision making through independent advice, insightful reporting and constructive challenge in support of the organisation and the Board.
As part of your key responsibilities, you will:
- Develop strong and effective partnerships with business unit leaders and teams to support how they manage risk by gaining an in-depth understanding of their business objectives, challenges, and operating context.
- Raise awareness of risk concepts and the link to strategic objectives and business plans.
- Support each business unit in the risk register review process, providing an independent view and challenge, including control articulation and effectiveness assessment.
- Provide expertise in identifying and designing key controls, contributing to demonstrable improvements in the control environment, and key risk indicators (KRIs).
- Plan, implement and execute a control assurance programme, including testing, across the Guardians.
- Conduct periodic checks to provide risk-based oversight and control design and operating effectiveness
- Work closely with the Manager Enterprise Risk to provide regular enterprise risk reporting, including the Board Dashboard and Enterprise Risk Report.
- Undertake accurate and timely maintenance of systems or records/databases where required, including the Guardians’ Risk Register.
- Promote risk aware culture, ownership, and effective risk management across the organisation.
- Review risk documentation, policies, and procedures to ensure these are current and operating effectively.
About you
- A minimum of five years’ previous experience in risk, control assurance, audit, and/or compliance within financial services. Investment industry and / or technology risk experience are desirable.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills, technical skills, business acumen, composure, approachability, drive for results, integrity, and trust.
- Skilled in effectively engaging stakeholders at all levels, adeptly holding ground with diplomacy, fostering relationships, and building credibility through constructive dialogue, while retaining objectivity.
- Sound verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong facilitation skills.
- Excellent planning, analytical and organisational skills.
- A systematic approach to maintaining records.
